ABOUT

Marshall painting of CambridgeportWho are we?

We are you. The Cambridgeport PTO is an open membership of parent and teacher volunteers working together to build community, to support teachers and to raise funds for the benefit of the entire Cambridgeport School.

What do we do?

So many things! We organized and sponsor a FREE lively Spaghetti Dinner/Math Night in November, a Multicultural Potluck in March and a fun-filled Spring Fling in May (which includes a Talent Show and generously donated Silent Auction items). We collaborate with our school staff and administration to support FREE additional academic programing accessible to all including Crazy 8s Math Clubs for grades K-5. We genuinely appreciate our teachers as professionals who care deeply for our students, in addition to providing individual classroom grants for enrichment materials we support teacher involvement in school community events. We come together as a community to improve our building at our annual Make-A-Difference Day.

Who benefits?

Every student at Cambridgeport. With funds raised from the Spring Fling and the  Annual Appeal (held in November) The CPTO supports essential school programs and help enrich the school experience for all students. We provide teachers with yearly classroom grants to use for materials, whether they need a sensory table for a kindergarten, foam core sheets for students to build dioramas or nonfiction books for a genre study. We organize volunteer involvement, pay for staff and purchase supplies for school community events. and cover the cost of supplemental music books and extra flash drives. We also provide additional money for field trips when needed and fund ongoing programs or special projects through grants we apply for on behalf of the school.

What do we need from you?

Your attendance—at one of our meetings or at one of our events, in front of a table or behind it. We’re always looking for people who like to share ideas, and for new faces eager to contribute in ways both big, small and anywhere in between. Our projects provide volunteer opportunities suited to all types of skills and schedules. The CPTO is open to all. Our meetings are monthly and take place in the family room or cafeteria depending on attendance or availability. You can take part even if you can’t attend meetings but still want to help.

Would you like to learn more?

We hope so! Please stop by a CPTO meeting. We’d like to get to know you better!
