What is Make a Difference Day and when is it?

Make a Difference Day (MADD) is a yearly tradition at Cambridgeport where families come together to work on improvement projects at school and build community while doing so. See the projects we have planned for this year further down on this page!
Participate in the event
Fill out the RSVP / signup sheet to tell us how many family members are coming what you’d ideally like to help with. When you arrive, we’ll give you a choice of projects to do.

Spruce up the Staff Room
The Staff Room will be getting some sprucing up and a fresh re-think in terms of layout. The teachers and staff have put in their requests and we plan to fulfill as many of those as we reasonably can. Some examples of what we have planned include: better tables and chairs, new curtains, improved coffee area, cleaning, moving around existing furniture and removing some unused equipment.

Fresh Coats of Paint, New Murals & Other Painting Projects
Mr. Wynn is creating new kid-paintable murals to replace the outdated painted quotes in the basement bathrooms. Other paint-related projects include: painting a few walls and doors here and there as requested by staff, painting some brand new signage for outdoor areas, and painting over some fire damage on the outdoor sheds, and more painting projects.

Deep Cleaning Classrooms and Class Rugs and Outdoor Trash Pickup
Some teachers have expressed that they’d love to have their classrooms thoroughly wiped down beyond what they and our custodians already do. And some teachers would love to have their rugs cleaned with a carpet cleaner machine. Plus, outside we hope to have kids and families pickup any trash outside all around the school grounds, wipe chalk off building walls, remove sharpie graffiti, etc.

- Rug cleaning machine rental ($35 each for 2 machines)

Organization Projects and Other Miscellaneous Projects
Most of these projects just require elbow grease and don’t have any supply costs involved. Examples include: Teachers have asked for help organizing sections of their room; Wiping chalk off walls of building with wet rags; Removing gravel from K playground and put back in garden area; and More!

Movie Making Area
Some teachers have requested a green screen area at school so they can make movies with the students. This would involve buying a green screen which would be somewhere around $175.
